Massage draping is an art form practiced by all massage therapists. Draping is used to protect the modesty of the client. Modesty
is a very individual thing and unique to each person. Several variations can be used and depends on your modesty level. Sheets are
used as the industry standard. Various other materials, such as a towel, make good alternatives for the "less modest client." Although
some states allow un-draped massage, Tennessee requires draping be provided for the client.
Proper massage etiquette dictates
that you should always check with your therapist about your draping preferences to see if they allowed. Don't assume your
preference is acceptable, this will save you and your therapist any embarrassment.
Chattanooga Massage & Bodyworks offers
several types of draping alternatives. Below are some massage draping photos that show how your modesty is protected with any form
of draping. Additional information, techniques, and photos are on our blog "The Rub-Down." Watch our Massage Draping Videos to
see the entire draping process from start to finish.

At the start of a massage, you will be fully draped. Depicted in the photos on the left are 2 typical positions - face down and face
up; and 2 styles of draping - a sheet and a towel.
The sheet or towel is pulled down so the back, neck, and shoulders can be massaged, as shown in the photos on the left.
Shown on the left; the entire leg is exposed including the gluteal muscles. The close-up shows that your modesty is protected
at all times.
You have to turn over during a full body massage. Depicted here are 2 clients, one using a sheet, one a towel. The therapist holds
the drape while you turn.
Exposing the stomach while keeping the female breasts covered is a simple process. First a smaller drape is placed over the breasts,
the the sheet or towel is slid from underneath. The stomach is exposed for massage, the breasts remain covered. Stomach massage is
an integral part of massage and should always be done. Re-draping the stomach is just a reversal of the process.
Diaper draping is a special technique used for performing stretches and some other intricate massage techniques. The leg is wrapped
with the drape so when the leg is lifted or moved in various positions your modesty is protected. The top photo shows how the draping
material is wrapped around the leg. The next 2 pictures show the leg being moved in various ways; the whole time the drape keeps you
covered.
Chattanooga Massage & Bodyworks provides sheets as our standard draping material. We allow the use of towels as an alternate means
of draping upon request.
