Your feet and body will thank you. Integrative Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific
nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is
a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped
into the feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, constipation,
and depression.
Our reflexology treatment starts with a gentle foot wash. Followed by a brief foot massage to warm up the feet
and prepare them for the reflexology treatment. A general reflexology session will encompass equal treatment to all the points on
the feet. These will include the organs such as the heart and liver; the spinal cord, all the major glands of the body, also the sinus
and other respiratory points. If you have certain issues or complaints, that can be helped with reflexology, we will pay special attention
to the corresponding points to help you function more proficiently.
Reflexology is a holistic approach to treating the body.
Reflexology improves the functionality of the kidney's, intestines, skin, circulation, and lungs. It will increase the control of
the bladder and bowels. Reflexology helps in pain relief by the release of endorphins (the body's natural pain killer); by stimulating
the nerve endings in the feet. It can help reduce stress and fatigue. It provides cold and flu relief as long as you are not in a
feverish state. It can help induce labor in over-due pregnancies. Reflexology can help with the unpleasant side-effects of different
cancer treatments.
We can also work the hand's and ear's points as well in a session. These are not as effective as the points
in the feet; but are a great alternative if you have sensitive feet.
Rates: $45 per session (approximately 45 minutes)
A
brief history of reflexology.
Reflexology has been around for thousands of years. The earliest known records date back to around
5,000 B.C. It is known as an "eastern medicine" which is different from our "western medicine". Western medicine believes in prescribing
pills for everything. The eastern cultures like to take a more holistic approach.
Refloxology works by applying pressure to specific
points in the feet and hands. The points have nerve ending that correspond with different organs, glands and systoms in the body.
It is believed that stimulating these nerves helps to make the corresponding organ, gland, or system function more proficiently.
Everyone
is different in how their body responds to reflexology. Some people will see and feel the results rather quickly. Others, will need
several sessions to start noticing the results they desire. Like all forms of treatment, it depends on how long the condition has
existed and the severity of the condition. Reflexology is a holistic treatment and a good alternative to certain remedies. Another
key to positive results is the belief that reflexology works. The mind/ body connection is a powerful thing; if you have a positive
mental attitude your body will react in a positive fashion.
