Massage Draping Video

This video shows the techniques used by massage therapists to protect the clients modesty during a full body massage. The video shows how a client can be fully un-clothed (or nude) during a massage without fear of being exposed.

This video depicts an alternate view of the glutes being exposed, the client turning over, and the front of the leg exposed for massage. This alternate video is intended to give you the point of view (POV) from the massage therapists perspective.

It’s a style of massage that involves stretching and deep massage work. Usually performed on a mat placed on the floor, but can also be done on a massage table. The client remains fully clothed, and it is recommended that loose-fitting clothes be worn. No massage oils or lotions are used. The client is put into many yoga type positions. The stretching can release muscle tension and improve range of motion for the client. The massage therapist leans on the clients body applying a firm, rhythmic pressure. A Thia massage session can last up to two hours.

Groupon, Living Social, DoubleTakeDeals Voucher Policies

Before you purchase, or if you have purchased, a social media voucher from Groupon, Living Social, or DoubleTakeDeals for Chattanooga Massage & Bodyworks please read the following policies in their entirety. This information is pertinent to your special offers and the scheduling of your appointments.

  • Do not wait until the voucher is near its promotional expiration date to schedule your appointment. Chances are, about 100 others have waited, or “forgotten” about their purchase.
  • We can only accommodate so many appointments per day.
  • We set aside the number of appointments required to fill each voucher purchased during the time the voucher promotional value is active.
  • If you wait until the last-minute to schedule your social media voucher we cannot guarantee you will receive an appointment for the vouchers promotional value.
  • If your voucher has an “amount paid” clause, the amount paid can be used after the promotional expiration towards any regularly priced services. The “amount paid” cannot be used in conjunction with any other special offers, discounts, or coupons according to the rules printed on the voucher.
  • If the voucher does not have an “amount paid” clause, and the voucher has expired, that voucher cannot be used.
  • All of the Chattanooga Massage & Bodyworks Office Policies apply to social media vouchers. If you make an appointment, and fail to show for that appointment, or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, your social media voucher will be considered as payment for the appointment time that was scheduled; rendering the voucher invalid for any future appointments. If limitations written on the voucher stipulate a policy of “paying the balance” for missed appointments, you will be afforded the opportunity to schedule another appointment; with the stipulation the you will pay the remaining balance of the original service price before the discount. This is in place because we cannot double book appointments The appointment you fail to show up for, or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, cannot be filled. Leaving another client unable to get a massage and leaving the massage therapist unpaid. Please read our Massage Etiquette – Appointments for detailed information.
  • We reserve the right to limit the number of social media vouchers used for appointments per day. We do not schedule any social media voucher appointments on Thursdays. Thursday is reserved for our Ladies Day Special appointments only.

Chattanooga Massage & Bodyworks welcomes all of our social media voucher purchases and want you to come experience the great massage services we offer. We have made every attempt to offer a fair policy regarding the use of social media vouchers, and to make our policies available to you; prior to purchasing your voucher. We must stringently adhere to our policies in an attempt to schedule everyone.

Massage Etiquette – How Much Do I Tip My Therapist?

Recently I had a client ask “How much should I tip? I really don’t know what’s proper.” I explained what the proper etiquette was regarding how much a client should tip their massage therapist; which prompted me to write this piece of information for everyone who is not sure and/ or is afraid to ask this question.

Tipping your massage therapist is not mandatory; but if your massage met or exceeded your expectations a tip should be offered to express that you were more than satisfied. Massage therapists typically work on commission; they receive only a portion of the fee that is charged per massage. This is another reason why it is imperative that you keep your massage appointment, or cancel with enough notice to allow the appointment to be filled by another person.

What if your massage did not meet your expectations? Hopefully this never happens. Massage is a personal thing, and sometimes even though your massage therapist did his or her best, the massage may have not been to your liking. This could be a result of too much or too little pressure being used during the massage, or many other factors. First, did you communicate with your therapist during the massage if you were not experiencing what you wanted? If you did, and your massage was still unsatisfactory, you should express your concerns to your massage therapist after your massage. Hopefully this will help the next client. Maybe you will even be willing to return for another massage with the same therapist, and see if your constructive criticism helped improve the therapists performance. Leaving a small tip, such as $2, is really no more than an insult and doesn’t help improve the therapist. Your constructive criticism is way more valuable.

The standard amount of money you should leave as a tip, used to be an easy thing to calculate. In these changing times with advent of social media marketing, and deep discounts they offer, the proper etiquette for tipping has changed. According to The Nest magazine (Winter 2008) the standard tip for massage therapy is 15-20% and is what you should leave for your therapist. If you purchased your massage service through a social media marketing firm such as Groupons or Living Social; you should offer your tip based on the original price of the massage – not the discounted price. Remember your massage therapist is working on commission, and is more than likely being paid less for your discounted massage.

During the holiday season when added expenses are common; your tips should be larger than the standard 15-20%. If this is your first visit to a particular massage therapist; you should leave a 30-40% tip based on the regular price of your massage service. If you see the same massage therapist regularly throughout the year your tip should be at least 50% and up to 100% of the service you normally receive.

Remember your massage therapist works on commission and you should leave a tip expressing your satisfaction. Tips should always be based on the regular price of a service, and during the holidays they should be anywhere from double the standard amount all the way up to the full price of the massage service you received.

Fire Fighters Let House Burn Down

I am furious that a fire department can stand there and let a house burn to the ground because the owner neglected to pay the annual $75 fee.

Obion County, TN residents must pay an annual $75 fee for fire protection from the city of South Fulton. Mayor David Crocker has apparently ordered the fire department not to respond if this fee is not paid. Crocker has said if homeowners don’t pay the fee, they are out of luck.

When Gene Cranicks home caught fire, he offered to pay what ever it would take to put the fire out but was told it was too late. They (the South Fulton Fire Department) said it was too late and would not do anything, as reported by the WPSD Local 6 News. The fire went on for hours without a response. When the fire spread to the neighbor’s home (who had paid the fee) the fire department finally responded.

I find this morally unacceptable. How can anyone stand there watching a home burn and do nothing. This order by Mayor Crocker is NOT a lawful order. For this fire department to actually follow such an order is totally wrong. Crocker and the entire fire department should be brought to justice in a court of law. I cannot believe something like this has happened. I am appalled and urge everyone reading this to react. Boycott the City of South Fulton, TN. If you live in South Fulton picket the fire department and city hall.

Help bring this story to the national news front and oust Crocker from office. If you don’t live in the area you can help bring national attention by sharing this story on your Facebook and Twitter social media pages by clicking the “share buttons” below.
